By Richard T. Loane

Volume 1:

The b&w photography and commentary of Dick Loane of Summit, NJ is both charming and informative. Dick frequented the almost weekly rail excursions offered at the time and traveled with some of the well-known photographers of the day like Bob Collins. Volume 1 is mostly hometown DL&W but includes L&HR and a quick look at Rahway Valley.

Volume 2:

In this volume, Dick Loane’s b&w photography includes views of CNJ’s BLUE COMET, streamlined LV passenger power, Reading steam working passenger and freight, and an epic excursion out to Altoona on the Pennsy.

Volume 3:

Photographer Dick Loane’s excursions through the Northeast in the 1930s, '40s, and '50s continue as he visits Erie, NYS&W, L&NE, and NYO&W! Many rare images including Wilkes-Barre & Eastern.

Volume 4:

This volume finds our young railfan and author chasing operations on NYC, NH, and LIRR! Both everyday railroading and special excursions feature in plenty of intriguing scenes!

Volume 5:

Our travels with author and photographer Dick Loane conclude with excursions and daily railroading in New England. Read his observations and view his photography on the B&M, B&A, MEC, D&H, RUT, CV, and New England shortlines!
