This second volume takes you back in time on the Route of the Black Diamond to the late postwar period of steam and early diesels. Also featured are operations not normally seen by railfans: the New York Harbor Marine operation, and the hump yard at Oak Island. Western New York is given its just due in a beautiful series of color photographs along the west end of the LV. The passenger fleet is viewed in all its glory at several locations in the lower Lehigh River Valley and side trips are made to the Hazleton Branches and Binghamton. Of special interest is the grand array of rare diesels and brutish steam locomotives which vanished after 1951.
