Under a decade after the mainline railroads of the U.S. and Canada replaced the last steam locomotives with diesel power in 1960, they began to reappear through the efforts of historical groups and railroad companies interested in good public relations. From just a half-dozen locomotives available for mainline service in mid-1966, over 50 others have since been resurrected! Mostly black & white images with some color.
