At Fulton Yard, a mile and a half east of Rivanna Jct., was an 800-ton coaling station and an elevator for loading ashes dumped from steam locomotives into hopper cars dedicated to that service. This 1964 picture was made ten years after the last steam engine on the Peninsula Corridor. (Soph Marty, Thorin Marty Collection)
